Sr. Database Engineer

What you’ll contribute:

• Secure and optimize SQL code to increase speed and efficiency
• Design, develop, test and debug new and existing SQL code with robustness in mind
• Make architecture considerations and aid in the decision-making process for their usage
• Participate in code reviews
• Act as a mentor to less experienced team members
• Automate and deploy code following successful QA processes and approvals
• Participate in software design meetings to define technical requirements for delivery of SQL components
• Implement clean code practices and code organization with loose coupling
• Troubleshoot SQL issues in various components of database applications
• Adhere to Agile methodology to adapt to dynamically changing requirements

What you’ll need:

• 8+ years of relevant professional SQL experience designing and developing various database components
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology equivalent
• Advanced SQL development in SQL Server with experience in dynamic queries, JSON, extended properties, table-valued functions, stored procedures, etc.
• Strong analytical, deductive reasoning and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic software development team environment with little or no supervision
• Exceptional team collaboration, oral and written communication skills
• Working experience using tSQLt testing framework
• Attention to detail in developing solutions, code formatting, usage of design patterns
• Experience with MSBUILD and development using PowerShell
• Working experience in writing automated tests, applying clean code practices, and utilizing the single-responsibility approach within database objects
• Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD and distributed source control systems using Git

What will be helpful:

• Proficiency using various development environments like Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Data Studio, SQL Server Management Studio
• Prior development experience with financial systems (e.g. 3E, Aderant)
• Experience building Azure DevOps pipelines using classic mode or YAML
