Our client, a global premier manufacturing company providing capital equipment for the telecom and electric power markets, is looking for a Senior Controls Engineer. This position performs work related to research, designing and development of new and existing products and interfacing control systems related to Company’s equipment.


The Senior Controls Engineer owns the selection, design, test and implementation of control algorithms, actuator controllers including the coordination with development partners. Leading the team’s electrical development function with focus on designing complex machine-to-machine synchronization.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Specify and design power distribution to and within products, performing calculations and design.
  • Provide technical expertise in consultation, evaluation, recommendations and development/review of specifications, work scopes, bids, test procedures and operational efficiencies.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in instrumentation and controls engineering.
  • Communicate engineering information with various stakeholders to facilitate successful completion of projects.
  • Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process control requirements, layout complexity, cost, quality, and lead-time limits.
  • Provide technical expertise, leadership, and project management knowledge to junior engineers leading development projects from a Senior Engineering position.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in control system engineering, design, implementation, programming/configuration, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Generate operation concepts and requirements, general system flows and detailed sequence of operations.
  • Perform multiple responsibilities of controls engineering support in parallel with project involvements and oversee vendor/contractor support when needed.
  • Lead and develop various testing methods and properties to confirm the functionality of components and systems.

EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of Controls Engineering, Process Flow and Automation experience in Equipment Manufacturing Company.
  • Ability to understand new issues quickly and make effective and timely decisions.
  • Strong analysis, judgement, and strategic thinking, including the ability to balance research, development, and product implementation efforts.
  • Proficiency with developing wireframes, wireless communication CAN Bus Applications and complex systems programming.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from ABET accredited institution.
  • Possess a high level of personal and professional ethics and integrity.
  • Action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to developing commercial embedded systems and system architecture.
  • 4+ years’ experience programming and high-level proficiency with real-time software development and debugging.
  • Thorough understanding of PLC / IO / GUI / HMI System design including various sensors and controllers.
