While we thrive in complex, controversial, and politically challenging situations, we provide public involvement and community outreach services for all types of projects and initiatives. Currently, Rifeline works heavily on various transportation projects. Some of our current clients include the Texas Department of Transportation (Mobility35), the City of Austin (Corridor Mobility Program), Williamson County (Transportation Corridor Development), Capital Metro (Project Connect), Central Health (Health Equity Policy Council and Community Health Champions) and the Brazos River Authority.


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The Community Outreach Coordinator / Senior Community Outreach Coordinator will support senior team members in implementing public engagement and community outreach activities on behalf of clients as well as manage projects and various tasks through completion. Under the supervision of senior team members, activities could include, but will not be limited to:

  • Providing technical support for virtual meetings (on platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.)
  • Assisting with mail-outs, performing mail merges, printing letters, and stuffing envelopes
  • Representing Rifeline at meetings and events
  • Completing data entry and managing databases
  • Conducting stakeholder and project research
  • Staffing stakeholder and community meetings, assisting with meeting set-up and helping with attendee registration
  • Transcribing written comments and sign-in sheets, scanning and filing digital materials (document control)
  • Scheduling, organizing, coordinating logistics, and preparing materials for meetings and events
  • Drafting meeting notes and summaries
  • Conducting in-person outreach, including staffing “pop-up meetings,” tabling at community events, and block-walking
  • Drafting and editing communications materials and correspondence
  • Communicating with stakeholders in person, over the phone, and in writing
  • Conducting online outreach via social media


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree with major coursework in public relations, communications, or a related field. For the Senior Coordinator position, a minimum of two years of work experience related to the duties described above is required.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES


Must-haves:

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Communicate via telephone, in writing, and in person
  • Flexibility to work after normal work hours (occasionally required)
  • Comfortable working on controversial issues or projects
  • Project management experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) experience
  • Communicating verbally and in-writing with stakeholders in English
  • Multitask and prioritize multiple deadlines
  • Access to a vehicle or reliable transportation to attend meetings/events and transport supplies in Austin and surrounding areas
  • Writing and editing experience


Great to have:

  • CRM management (database management system)
  • Survey tools and bulk email platforms such as Survey Monkey, Mailchimp, Microsoft Forms, and Google Forms
  • Public outreach, community engagement, and relationship-building
  • Political campaigns
  • Mediation/facilitation training
  • Social media
  • Systematic Development of Informed Consent (SDIC) training
  • Translating written communications into Spanish
  • Communicating verbally and in-writing with stakeholders in Spanish
  • Event planning/staffing
  • Basic graphic design skills

The typical salary range is $50,000 - $60,000 annually but compensation will be commensurate with experience.
