Vintner’s Daughter is different.


Frustrated with an industry that misled its customers and cared more about marketing than quality, April Gargiulo founded Vintner’s Daughter to provide unprecedented quality, craftsmanship and performance. She ended up transforming an industry.


It took an outsider to reconsider what was possible


April’s unusual background in fine winemaking in Napa Valley spurred her to question and challenge every industry norm. She asked: “When developing a skincare formulation, what if every decision was the highest quality, most effective option—regardless of cost or complexity?”

The result of this exploration led to skincare products that delivered unprecedented skin nutrition and performance. When April searched for a lab to make its first product, Active Botanical Serum, she received dozens of “no’s.” Many very condescendingly told her how naive she was and did she have any idea how expensive, risky and time-consuming this would be. Despite the pressure to conform to industry norms, she resisted the urge to compromise on quality in any way.


A lasting impact


Vintner's Daughter has taken a stand and is committed to creating confidence in an industry that uses fear and insecurity to sell and market its products. We do not use words like “correct,” “fix,” “transform,” “improve” or “anti-aging” that stoke insecurity or fear to drive purchase. Instead, we choose Positive Beauty, with words and images that manifest joy, confidence and gratitude in our beautiful skin.

From our first sale, we have donated 2% of revenue to charities supporting women and children. We have chosen to be carbon neutral, prioritize sustainability, and invest more than three years of effort in becoming a certified B-Corp.

Overview of the Position

The Senior Brand Copywriter role for Vintner’s Daughter is a strategic position responsible for crafting our education and pushing the brand forward through smart, engaging copy that entertains and inspires the customer across key touchpoints. Through close collaboration with Sales, you will translate business objectives, brand growth activities and product marketing into thoughtful, smart copy that delivers on our KPIs. It is a critical, creative role that will execute the brand’s voice through our daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal content initiatives and campaigns. This candidate will be a strong, seasoned copywriter that understands and knows how to communicate to an elevated, global audience. They will be able to connect education and stories to the larger world of skincare and culture—while always remaining true to the voice and vision of Vintner’s Daughter.


Responsibilities & Desired Outcomes


  • Achieve excellence in brand education across all consumer touchpoints while accomplishing brand growth. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Develop best-in-class brand marketing messaging, consumer-friendly narratives and copy that educate and inspire our community and grow critical brand KPIs. Guide and articulate the brand voice seamlessly across all channels and brand collateral

○ Collaborate with the VP of Brand Marketing to conceptualize a content strategy that highlights critical brand moments, initiatives and launches

○ Execute against all copy needs to support customer journey across both digital and physical touchpoints (i.e., digital channels including but not limited to website, product pages, email marketing, SMS and social media)

○ Write articles for the Vintner’s Daughter content hub, VIDA Stories, and other SEO and SEM-related copy

○ Develop copy for printed collateral, including in-store signage, direct mail and packaging to support customer acquisition and journey

○ Support education needs of the Vintner’s Daughter Stockist teams

○ Assist with PR-related copy needs, including proof-reading press releases, media alerts and press kits

○ Help ideate and write scripts for videos


  • Enjoy great chemistry and a true spirit of partnership. Collaborate with and enjoy a truly collaborative partnership with the CMO, VP of Brand Marketing and the Founder
  • Proven project management skills. Own copy projects from start to finish, implementing feedback from various stakeholders, tracking versions, taking responsibility for copy QA and adhering to schedules and deadlines
  • Join weekly brand meetings to understand key growth activities, help develop broader campaign ideas and be a thought partner for brand marketing initiatives




Qualifications


  • Stellar portfolio reflecting strong concepting and writing
  • The ideal candidate is located near our San Francisco, CA Headquarters
  • A minimum of 6-8+ years in a similar copywriting or editorial role
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in a company of similar size and growth trajectory; able to thrive in fast-paced, rapid change, growth environment
  • Degree in or higher-level qualification in journalism, marketing, communications
  • Background in Editorial is preferred but not required. Digital commerce is a plus
  • Experience writing for luxury, skincare, and/or wellness brands
