Description


Gryphon Scientific is seeking applicants with advanced training in the life sciences for a Senior Analyst position. As a Senior Analyst, you will lead tasks focused on chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) defense, public health and safety, emerging infectious diseases, and homeland security, with support from senior scientists. Senior Analysts supervisor junior staff in the abstraction of scientific literature to translate research into policy and practice. In addition, Senior Analysts will develop methodology, perform analysis on abstracted data, draft reports, and interface with government clients. Projects incorporate a variety of approaches such as: data analytics, computational modeling, policy evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and more. Final products will guide decision-makers in emergency preparedness, emergency response, healthcare, biomedical science, and defense. Gryphon Scientific offers Senior Analysts the opportunity to use critical thinking, creative problem solving, and analysis to tackle stimulating projects in a wide range of exciting fields. Each project will require Senior Analysts to work collaboratively, think, research and write in new ways. This position will primarily support projects in Gryphon’s All-Hazards Preparedness and Response & CBRN Defense practice area but Sr. Analysts may have the opportunity to work on projects in other practice areas as well. (Sr. Analysts will not, however, be involved in laboratory work; there is no lab on the premises.)


Duties


  • Work with federal and other government clients to support planning efforts and policy decisions
  • Provide status updates and interim results to project managers, team members, and government clients.
  • Manage work performed by junior researchers -- shaping research directions, developing work products, and providing technical mentorship.
  • Develop and present reports and analyses to various stakeholder groups
  • Direct research on topics including but not limited to CBRN defense, infectious diseases, global health security, biosecurity, emergency preparedness and response, and/or public health.
  • Translate complex scientific concepts for clients and the broader scientific and policy community through written, visual and oral media.
  • Conduct outreach to subject matter experts and stakeholders in industry and government to inform project outputs
  • Perform internet-based research and other searches to identify, collect, organize, and analyze relevant data from peer-reviewed literature, news articles, public reports, and interviews with subject matter experts.
  • Prepare client-ready written reports and presentations describing data collection, analysis methods, and results.
  • Contribute technical expertise to proposal development and other business development opportunities.
  • Conduct analyses on diverse and complex datasets and scientific literature
  • Work closely with Principal Investigators, Project Managers, and other Task Leads to manage the budget and schedule for tasks, ensuring milestones and deliverables are completed on-time and on-budget.
  • Serve as a team leader on analytical projects in fields related to CBRN, science policy, and risk assessment.


Requirements


Minimum Qualifications


  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field, with 0-3 years post-graduate experience in academe or industry, or MS and 5 years experience, or BA/S and 10 years experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to government client requirements

  • Expertise in methods of scientific research and presentation, including designing and executing a literature search to address a research question, collecting and organizing data from published sources, interpreting data, and presenting findings in reports and meetings
  • Ability to analyze large and complex data sets to generate new findings
  • Must be a creative problem solver who can tackle complex issues and work through difficult problems
  • Leadership and project management skills
