OPPORTUNITYWe are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable and highly organized Senior Accountant to join our Finance department. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-growth company in the biotech sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Resolve payroll issues and respond payroll inquiries
  • Manage the general ledger accounting activities, such as cash/investments, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll and various expense accruals
  • Assist with the preparation of internal and external financial reports
  • Partner with Account Payable (AP) to establish best practices, as well as assist with on-going process refinement to improve the efficiency and accuracy of General Ledger (GL) accounting and reporting
  • Prepare 571L property tax filings and other compliance filings as needed
  • Assist with system implementation and creation of accounting policies and procedures to maintain and enhance the internal control environment over operational accounting processes, systems and financial reporting
  • Assist with the preparation of various tax requests
  • Process US, multi-state payroll utilizing a professional employer organization (PEO) platform for exempt and nonexempt employees and be familiar with payroll tax filing requirements.
  • As part of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, prepare general journal entries, accruals, account analyses and reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments to obtain information and improves processes
  • Support special ad hoc projects as needed
  • Assist with various aspects of external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and reviewing outstanding items lists
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with NetSuite or other enterprise/accounting software
  • Experience with payroll platforms, such as ADP
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, 5+ years of accounting experience, of which 1 year is in life sciences
  • Experience with processing multi-state exempt and non-exempt payroll accurately and in a timely manner
  • Understanding of internal controls, operational accounting procedures and financial reporting

  • TriNet NetSuite experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional focus on customer service
  • Industry experience in biotech
  • Eager to learn new things and take on additional responsibilities to support the team
  • Experience as a key member of a general ledger team with a high volume of transactions and complex accounting processes
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively prioritize and perform multiple projects while working with team members, as well as work independently with limited direction
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
  • High degree of confidentiality, integrity, and judgment
  • Accounting experience in a publicly traded company
  • Positive attitude and flexibility to changing priorities, especially in the period of month/quarter/year-end closing
  • Superior organization skills and attention to detail
  • Flexible and drawn to a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting

Salary Range: $128,250 - $141,750
The listed base salary range is for Mammoth employees in the Bay Area. Actual base salary will be determined by geographic work location, relevant professional experience, applicable skills, and internal equity. The base salary range for those working remotely outside of the San Francisco Bay Area may differ and will be determined by industry market data for the role and specific region.
