SENIOR ACCOUNTANT (HYBRID – SAN FRANCISCO OR MENLO PARK)

The Senior Accountant is responsible for certain aspects of a wide range of accounting related activities for the US and UK offices, such as month-end close, financial reporting and budgeting, accrual and cash accounting, intercompany accounting and month-end account reconciliations, management of shareholders’ equity reallocations, stock records, promissory notes, preparing and filing property, sales and use tax returns, VAT Taxes, and assist in external audit and annual tax return preparation. Additionally, other duties may include ad hoc assignments or analysis oriented projects.

How You’ll Help Us Be Successful
- Drive improvements to documentation and processes.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations and identify/resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Perform monthly analytics and variance analysis.
- Perform accrual accounting for financial reporting and cash accounting for tax reporting
- Prepare entries for promissory notes including subordinated debts, stock loans and certificates
- Stay current with latest developments in your area of expertise through personal development activities
- Prepare payroll entries and payroll related reconciliations
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers
- Assist in all external audits and annual tax returns document preparations
- Lead and perform tax, accounting, and financial projects/analysis and ad hoc research as required
- Assist in annual financial budget preparation
- Identify and implement process improvements and strive to follow best practices to enhance the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of individual and team work product.
- Prepare and file the firm’s property, sales and use tax returns, and VAT taxes for the UK office
- Prepare month end close journal entries, in compliance with Company standards and policies, in a timely manner.
- Assist in all areas relating to shareholders’ ownership including bonuses, stock redistribution, distributable net income and shareholders reporting
- Manage the firm’s vacation, holiday and sick leave accruals
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 3+ years of direct accounting experience within a professional services firm or similar environment required
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex reports, needs, and documentations required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work collaboratively with teams
- Actively licensed CPA or CPA candidate a plus
- Extensive knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office applications required, including Excel
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Heavily detail and process-oriented, including the ability to work on multiple deadline-driven projects
- Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge of accounting principles and familiar with Financial Accounting Policies
- International accounting experience a plus
- Communication: the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Leadership: the desire to take initiative and actively contribute to the team and firm
- Business Acumen: the capability to learn the firm’s financial and operational functions
- Client Service: the mindset to provide superior service

For San Francisco Candidates Only: Cornerstone Research is offering a competitive market base salary for this position between $95,400 and $120,300. A job offer will depend on how closely a candidate’s skills, experience and education match the requirements for the role. In addition to base salary, we offer a total compensation package that includes annual performance bonus and generous benefits.
