Job Description
Duties


Under the supervision of the Director of Accounting Services, support and implement the overall objectives of Accounting Services strategic plan. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Special Accounting and Finance projects as needed
  • Maintaining and balancing subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies
  • Preparing and recording asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Supervise and review quarterly analysis of outstanding checks and potential escheatment
  • Assist Accounting Services in upholding internal controls; communicate and enforce company policies and procedures as they relate to the AP process
  • Assist Director of Accounting Services in developing a future centralized procurement process for JAF
  • Ensure the successful creation of vendors, related holding taxes, use taxes, and sales taxes
  • Provide management reporting on key metrics such as vendor spend, AP stats, and invoice processing
  • Working closely with Director of Accounting Services to prepare Financial Statements, evaluate and improve key area process flows, and support the Accounting Services team and the organization in embracing new processes
  • Helping complete implementation and refinement of paperless environment through banking and payment automation, approval workflow and invoice processing
  • Coordinate and manage all AP-related audit requests
  • Other projects and assignments as necessary to support the overall strategic plan of Joni and Friends


Qualifications


  • Minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience in the relevant functions described above
  • Demonstrated passion for continuous improvements toward process improvement and excellence
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and V-Lookups
  • Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and competencies
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a sense of urgency without sacrificing quality and accuracy
  • Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills including the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of and ability to read financial reports and ability to help solve problems by processing adjustments to the genera ledger
  • Profound knowledge of working with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Working knowledge of Financial Edge or related non-profit accounting platforms
