Job Description
The Senior Accountant is an integral part of the process of preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals and businesses; and assisting with tax planning, and business advisory services.


Duties/Responsibilities


  • Prepares and reviews responses to IRS/State tax notices and correspondence.
  • Manages multiple client engagements completing them on time and within budget.
  • Reviews simple and intermediary tax returns.
  • Protects the confidentiality of client and Firm information.
  • Effectively communicates with clients - answers questions, gathers necessary information for tax return and other projects, etc.
  • Develops tax law expertise.
  • Has a solid understanding of the Firm's services. Listens for and identifies opportunities for the Firm to provide additional services to clients.
  • Provides advisory services to clients.
  • May assist with providing other client services such as payroll and/or bookkeeping.
  • Develops and maintains technical competencies and other skills. Actively seeks out and participates in training and continuing education opportunities.
  • Consults with client and uses tax law knowledge to provide tax planning guidance.
  • Assists with training and mentoring others.
  • Researches technical tax issues related to return preparation.
  • Prepares intermediary and complex federal and state income tax returns for individuals and businesses.

Education And Experience


  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, or related field with at least two years of related experience; or Associates degree in Accounting or Business, or related field with at least five years of related experience; or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Enrolled Agent or Certified Public Accountant designation or eligibility for either, preferred.
  • Two years of tax preparation experience required. Three years tax experience in public accounting, preferred.
