SEMCO Energy - Sr. Manager of Operations


The Sr. Manager of Operations, under minimal supervision, plans and directs the activities of all field and pipeline facilities across Michigan operations as assigned, which include Measurement, PT&S, and Construction & Maintenance. The Sr. Manager works closely with the Director of Operations on projects and initiatives.


You Will


  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
  • Promote a positive and effective employee engagement and safety culture. Achieves safety goals and objectives by monitoring indicators of safe behavior. Ensures completion of coaching for unsafe behavior.
  • Makes regular reports to the Director of Operations.
  • Trains, monitors, motivates, coaches, develops, and evaluates unit employees.
  • Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement.
  • Plans and implements the operating policies and programs in support of goals and benchmarked standards.
  • Directs the fulfillment of projects assignments, within budget, with quality and on schedule.
  • Ensure the communication/dissemination of the business strategy throughout the operating regions as assigned.
  • Negotiate, interpret and manage collective bargaining agreements. Promotes strong working relationships among all employees.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and inspections.
  • Achieves financial objectives by sound management of financial resources through budget preparation, monitoring of fees and costs, and analysis and/or justification for the use of financial resources.


You Have


  • Project management experience/ training is preferred.
  • 7+ Years of progressively responsible work experience
  • 2+ Years of supervisory experience
  • Gas industry experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or 4+ years’ relevant experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Master's Degree preferred


In addition to our standard benefits package, the estimated base salary for this role will range from $123,000 - $154,000, depending on experience.
