Security Guard Jobs

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Interim Director of Facilities and Building Operations, the Security Guard’s duties are to observe and report safety or security concerns on DAP Health grounds. The Security Guard acts as a visible deterrent to crime. They monitor the grounds for suspicious activities and watch for any criminal acts or any safety issues.

Job Status: Full-time/Part-time, Hourly Non-exempt

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Patrols buildings and premises on foot or in a vehicle to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
• Covers the welcome desk as needed.
• Monitors security cameras for inappropriate activity.
• Monitors building entrances including arrivals and departures of employees, visitors or other persons to guard against theft and maintain the security of the premises.

• Conducts openings and closings of DAP Health areas and buildings.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Participates as a Crisis Intervention Team member to respond to staff crisis buttons.
• Responds rapidly to security emergencies within the buildings.
• Responds to calls on security phone regarding reports and alerts.
• Notifies Maxwell Security of any unruly persons we need assistance with to remove them from the premises.
• Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
• Notifies police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
• Provides assistance to patients, clients or guests when requested.
• Assists with DAP Health Wellness and Food Depot events.
• Visually inspects equipment and machinery to detect evidence of tampering.
• Completes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
• Accounts for and accepts DAP Health deliveries, and contacts the appropriate department to pick them up.
• Answers alarms and investigates disturbances.
• Accounts for and distributes coffee supplies and office paper stock.
• Is aware of individuals on the BOLO (be on the lookout) list and monitors premises to ensure they are not on-premises.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations of the protection of people, data, property, and institutions, preferred.
• Ability to read and write English.

Education and Experience:

• Active and unrestricted California Guard Card.
• Minimum of two years of security guard-related experience or related field, preferred.
• Valid CA Driver’s License with a clean driving record and up-to-date auto insurance.
• Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross accredited BLS certification.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Potential exposure to allergen/irritants and extreme temperatures.
• Operates in the internal and external parts of the buildings and requires constant times of standing, walking and some repetitive motion.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
