Job Description
Position Summary

This is a casual position, intended to meet the specific operational needs of the College. This position will work no more than 450 hours in a 12 month period.

This particular position would serve to cover overnight shifts. Monday - Thursday 3:30 AM - 8:30 AM, Friday 12:00 AM - 5:00 AM

This position will serve as a floater/on-call employee to support the needs of the institution and may be assigned to the Main Campus, the Technology Center, or the Pines Opportunity Center (Morgan County Campus). This position will be responsible for conducting unarmed patrol, both interior and exterior, to ensure all locks and meals of access are secure. Communicating effectively with public and staff. Documentation of all incidents occurring on campus. This position is also responsible for reporting any crimes or suspicious person to the authorities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs related duties as assigned or as directed.
  • In the absence of the primary Receiver, acts as that employee’s back-up. In this capacity is certified by the college to receive all packages destined for Tech Center recipients.
  • Provides customer service to visitors, staff and students about campus functions.
  • Monitoring CCTV surveillance cameras; investigating incidents;
  • Monitors access control;
  • Opens and closes College facilities based on the College’s operating schedule and assists in lock downs.
  • Provides parking lot and traffic assistance based upon need or assignment.
  • Unlocking and locking doors; setting intrusion detection alarms;
  • Annotates log book and promptly and thoroughly completes incident reports.
  • Performs daily mail pick-up and delivery when assigned to the Tech Center.
  • Performs interior and exterior patrols; vehicular patrols of campus parking lots, and its environs;
  • Provides safety escort services.
  • Prepares student and employee IDs and issuance of vehicle parking permits (Main Campus).
  • Respond to calls for security assistance in regard medical emergencies, and other first responder related requests.
  • Preparing reports pertaining to incidents;

Individuals hired for this position will be expected to attempt to deescalate potential confrontations. This is an unarmed position; however, incumbent will be trained and certified to carry and deploy pepper spray.
Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED

Experience
  • One year of security, law enforcement, emergency medical service, or other related experience is required. Or similar duties while serving in the armed forces of the United States.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to maintain a high level of situational awareness.
  • Experience and/or training in CPR, AED, basic first aid, and the carriage and deployment of pepper spray- preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Capable of de-escalating confrontations.
  • Must possess valid driver's license.
  • Sufficiently good hearing, eyesight, and depth perception to perform the functions of the position.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, climb stairs, and lift packages of moderate weight is necessary.
