Job Description
  • Assesses and reports child abuse, elder abuse, suicide and threats to harm others.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary teams including Student Success Teams, MTSS and PBIS.
  • Facilitates professional development that addresses barriers to learning and methods to restore and maintain a safe learning environment for all students.
  • An earned Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
  • Appropriate manner including poise, tact, good judgment, and ability to work effectively with District personnel, community representatives, parents, and students.
  • Provides psycho-education on topics that include mental health, trauma awareness, social skills, conflict mediation, restorative practices, grief, suicide prevention, and other social emotional subjects that impact learning.
  • Willingness and ability to serve as a field instructor or preceptor for social work interns.
  • Provide staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal, economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student’s educational performance and behavior.
  • Provide case management to help assist families with information and referrals to community resources to address student and family needs.
  • Maintain compliance to professional standards to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Willingness to conduct home visits and provide services to families in the home setting.
  • Adherence to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) code of ethics and core values.
  • Familiarity with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS).
  • Promote parent engagement in the educational process.
  • Provides comprehensive research informed social, emotional, behavioral and mental health intervention and supports to reduce the intensity, frequency, and/or complexity of difficult behaviors in identified students.
  • Understanding of the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth patterns of students.
  • Prepare and report on Biopsychosocial Assessments.
  • Conduct home visits as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to complete district provided 20 hour ProAct Crisis Intervention Training within the first 90 days of hire.
  • Possession of the following valid California licenses/credentials: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • One year of experience working in school settings
  • Develop measurable outcomes, data tracking and progress monitoring tools.
  • Possession of a Pupil Personnel Services Credential authorizing services as a School Social Worker (required within one year of employment).
  • Experience in developing treatment plans, providing direct individual and group services, monitoring progress with data, and knowledge of appropriate documentation for medical billing purposes.
  • Doctorate in related field
  • Collaborates with teachers and school staff providing consultation to develop strategies for classroom management and positive behavior support planning and implementation.
  • Provide evidence-based individual, group and family services at various locations within the district.
  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license and personal automobile for use on district business.
  • Complete required charting, documentation and billing for services in a timely manner.
  • At least one-year full-time experience in providing case management, mental health services, and counseling with children under the supervision of a Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) approved supervisor.
  • Must possess intern registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
