School Nurse - Full Time
The Children's Center for Communication and Beverly School for the Deaf (CCCBSD) is seeking a full time, highly qualified registered nurse (RN) to join our current team of nurses. Located in Beverly, Massachusetts, CCCBSD is a therapeutic-educational program serving students ages 3 to 22 with communication, developmental, sensory, medical, and physical challenges.
School nurse candidates should have a strong pediatric background and an understanding of children with a range of complex medical needs. Ability to work and collaborate as a team and in a private school setting is critical.
CCCBSD nurse duties include medication administration, treatment of students and staff for acute illness and/or injuries, writing/updating of Individual Health Care Plans in conjunction with parents and other health care professionals, maintaining appropriate documentation of medications administered and office visits in the comprehensive school records system, communicating with parents via text, call, email, or in person as appropriate, and activating Emergency Action Plans or any other necessary emergency response if needed.
CCCBSD nurses provide primary support in the areas of: feeding protocols (tube feeding), faculty training on student medical care, response to medical emergencies, and supporting private-duty nurses.
In supporting the overall health and safety needs of our school community - the CCCBSD medical team is charged with establishing strong communication and positive relationships with students, parents, and all school staff/faculty.
CCCBSD faculty provide a 204 day academic schedule for students with traditional school vacations and a 6-week summer calendar. This position falls under the leadership of a highly skilled and knowledgeable director of nursing.
