Southwest Division


Shimmick’s Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation, and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $828 million Gerald Desmond Bridge, the first cable-stayed vehicular bridge in California.


Responsibilities


The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Track record of leading EHS audit programs, and site remediation programs creating increased awareness, heightened standards, and improved performance at individual site locations and across a Company
  • Experience working with management and data collection systems
  • Develop strategic direction on assigned Company remediation sites to reduce risks and costs
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new strategic initiatives


Ability to work in a matrixed, team oriented environment
  • Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems and procedures.
  • Exhibits knowledge and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of their environmental specialty.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies including but not limited to Cal-OSHA
  • Monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area.
  • Uses every opportunity to drive EHS awareness by demonstrating safe behavior, continuous self-development and education in areas of environmental, health & safety compliance, industry trends and regulatory developments
  • Responsible of Monitoring and Auditing the Environmental Control System, which must meet the requirements established by Federal, State and Local regulations Internal Policies and Procedures of the Company
  • Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.
  • Maintain site-specific EHS program and plans in accordance with state and federal regulations and company expectations
  • Under general supervision performs technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.


Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupation Safety & Health, Environmental Health, or related field + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders while maintaining three points of contact.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.


Preferred Qualifications


  • OHST preferred but CHST will be considered.
  • Heavy Civil construction and field experience.

The salary range for this position is between $110,000 - $145,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.

These benefits are available to all employees working more than 20 hours per week. Employees working less than 20 hours per week are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage as well as EAP services.
