S05 Delivery Driver

This position provides an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a dedicated team of professionals tasked with transporting people and goods within the Ithaca area. This important role has frequent contact with students, staff, and faculty as we provide essential services of student ADA transportation, courier of packages, support of campus public health measures, and mail delivery. Position Description:

Pick up and deliver people, packages, and mail across campus and throughout outlying areas, including providing the CULift para-transport service to Cornell University students. Clean and maintain University Fleet Services vehicles, including cars, trucks, vans, and buses. Provide exceptional customer service to the campus community.


This position shift will be 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday, to cover Red Runner/CULift rides, and during low-demand ride times clean and fuel vehicles.
Occasional overtime assignments as well as weekend coverage during special events, will be required.

his is a union position within the United Auto Worker's bargaining unit (UAW). The rate of pay is $21.52/hour. At the end of the probationary period, employees will be required to pay union dues per Article 1 of the Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with customers (staff, co-workers, university senior executives, vice presidents, VIPs, students who require accommodations, etc.) in a positive manner.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be conscientious, be able to utilize time effectively, work steadily under pressure, pay attention to detail, work independently, and prioritize tasks.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have ability to drive effectively in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 50 lbs.
  • Must have 2-3 years of demonstrated driving experience in a business or commercial setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience securing and safely transporting persons with mobility aids in specialized vehicles.

All FCS employees are required to attend staff development trainings and participate in the performance evaluation process.
