Job Description
- Residential Supervisor II (2300063V)

Residential Supervisor II - ( 2300063V )

Description

RESIDENTIAL SUPERVISOR II

Distinguishing Characteristics: This is a supervisory classification in this series. At this level, incumbents apply learned principles, practices and techniques to assess diverse situations and develop solutions for specific cases. Incumbents perform all the duties of a Residential Supervisor I and, based on assignment, may supervise a larger staff or oversee residents or individuals in staffed group living environments and independent living environments. For incumbents at the Department of Developmental Services, the number of individuals per residence, at this level, is specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Supervision Received: Incumbents receive general supervision from employees of a higher grade who provide instruction, work assignments and performance reviews through frequent formal and informal communications.

Supervision Exercised: Incumbents may exercise direct supervision over, assign work to and review the performance of employees of a lower grade assigned to the residential setting. Incumbents may provide functional direction to intermittent and seasonal staff, vendors and property management staff and/or other employees of a lower grade through advice, guidance and delegation of tasks.

Additional Functions Performed: Incumbents perform the same functions of a Residential Supervisor I. At the Department of Developmental Services, incumbents at this level are responsible for more individuals per residence, as specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. In other agencies, incumbents at this level oversee residents or individuals served in staffed group living environments and independent living environments.

Additional Key Accountabilities: Incumbents at this level have the same decision-making authority as the Residential Supervisor I, only the potential impact will be on a greater number of residents or individuals served in staffed group living environments and independent living environments. Relationships with Others: Key contacts and relationships for incumbents include individuals and their families and/or legal guardians; medical personnel and health care providers; residential and agency staff; community organizations; vendors; outside service providers and other state agencies.

Working Environment: While performing the duties of this classification, incumbents work indoors within a residential setting. Incumbents may work under stressful situations and may be exposed to blood-born pathogens, communicable diseases, bodily fluids or spills, contaminated products or syringes and needles. Incumbents may be exposed to verbal and/or physical confrontations. Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, nights or weekends. Incumbents may also be required to travel and may be exposed to traffic and other roadway or travel-related hazards.

Physical Abilities: While performing the duties of this classification, incumbents are regularly required to sit and stand for long periods of time, handle materials, talk and/or hear and reach with hands and/or arms. Incumbents are occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Incumbents must occasionally lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds with or without assistance and with or without the use of devices and/or equipment to assist in the lifting effort. Work assignments may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation to a known disability.

Upon hire, incumbents are required to obtain and maintain Medication Administration Protocol-MAP certification and valid certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid. Incumbents may also be required to be trained and certified in such programs as Proactive Alternatives to Behavioral Challenges (PABC).
