POSITION TITLE: Residential Aide

REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: Working in concert with the Shift Supervisor, provides general assistance and support to clients residing at the shelter and regularly monitors the safety and security of clients located throughout the facility which includes the dormitory and bathrooms.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Work with clients around ADL skills such as laundry, cleaning, and organization of room
  • Regularly monitors the bathrooms to reduce the instance of clients smoking in these parts,
  • Mandatory Callahan Attendance
  • Distribute and collect linen for laundry service in accordance with procedure,
  • Conduct bed checks according to procedure,
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team,
  • Meet with supervisor on regular basis,
  • Retrieve and deliver client property as indicated or required, in accordance with procedure,
  • Update logbook to foster greater and meaningful communication across shifts as needed.
  • Monitor’s clients to ensure dormitory property compliance as per DHS rules and regulations,
  • Interact with clients to promote a friendly supportive but professional atmosphere,
  • Strip beds when a room/bed is vacated,
  • Attend mandatory in-service annually
  • Monitors the garden area,
  • Participate in various committees and meetings as requested
  • All other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or other supervisory staff.
  • Medication monitoring
  • Responsible for cleaning of serving utensils and pots,
  • Turn-off lights in all dormitories,
  • Responsible for food warming, and in the serving of breakfast, lunch / dinner,
  • Complete room check as needed,
  • Hold the New Clients to the 2-bag property limitation,
  • Complete Incident Reports, Hourly rounds as needed,

Requirements:
  • Fire Safety Coordinator Certificate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak/write the English language
  • HHA/ CNA or other Medical training preferred.
  • CPR/First Aide
  • Bilingual Spanish Preferred
  • Food Handler's Certificate
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency with two years experience in counseling and/or a shelter system

  • Must possess sight, hearing and digital senses or use prosthesis that will enable the essential functions of the job to be completed.
