Ravine Gardens State Park seeks a positive, out-going, self-motivated park service professional to fill a Resident Assistant Park Manager position, providing visitor services, maintenance, protection, administration, and resource management. This position requires a high-energy, dedicated, innovative individual who is committed to protecting and interpreting Florida’s natural and cultural resources. Incumbent must have experience in management of personnel and knowledge of agency policies.


Incumbent will work with Park Manager to supervise park operations at three locations: Ravine Gardens State Park, Dunns Creek State Park, and Palatka to St. Augustine State Trail and ensure agency standards are met. This position with the Park Manager supervises 5 full time employees, several part-time employees.

These three parks are located in Putnam County: Ravine Gardens is located in Palatka and Dunns Creek in Pomona Park, while the 19-mile Palatka to St. Augustine Trail is linear park through the countryside between East Palatka and St. Augustine. Each park is unique with its own character.

Pay:

$2,964.00 Monthly / $35,568.00 Annually


Your Specific Responsibilities:


This is managerial work assisting Resident Park Manager II in directing activities of two state parks and a state trail, providing Visitor Services, Resource Management, Maintenance, Administration and Protection of Ravine Gardens and Dunns Creek State Parks and Palatka to St. Augustine State Trail.


Incumbent of this position exercises independent judgment in formulating or assisting in formulation of policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and/or preparation and administration of budgets.


ADMINISTRATION

Participates in employee training, supervision and discipline. Supervises the staff in fiscal and purchasing procedures and policies. Ensures property procedures and policies are applied. Participates in the administration of the collective bargaining agreement and maintains good employee relations. Coordinates work schedules and assignments. Checks reports, fee collection and miscellaneous records prepared by the staff.

VISITOR SERVICES

Coordinates interpretive programs, activities and schedules for park unit. Meets the public, interprets the resources, facilities and services, resolves problems and provides for good public relations. Supervises the staff in providing visitor services.

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Participates in the supervision of resource management programs applicable to park unit including ecological burning, water level management, native species propagation, erosion control and exotic removal.

MAINTENANCE

Identifies maintenance needs through daily inspections. Maintains maintenance schedules and supervises the staff to assure maintenance on a daily, weekly and yearly basis is regularly performed. Supervises and assists with the maintenance of buildings, roads, bridges, trails, water systems, wastewater systems, vehicles, equipment, etc.

PROTECTION

Ensures park rules are enforce pertaining to all natural, historical and archaeological facilities and resources and use thereof, for the enjoyment of the visitor.


Performs other related duties as required.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Ability to- reside on park property and maintain a valid driver’s license.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Reside on park property 3BR, 2BTH mobile home (state owned)
  • Valid Driver’s License
