Position Highlights
A Research Technician I (Part Time) position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Zhiyu Dai in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix. The incumbent will provide entry level scientific research support. The successful applicant will be a well-rounded, enthusiastic individual with basic training in molecular biology, biochemistry, or biology and experience performing research in a laboratory setting. This individual should be detailed oriented, conscientious, and able to follow instructions and have the ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the acquisition of lab supplies.
  • Collaborates in the development of new strategies, techniques and equipment.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Records information and maintains logs of experimental data. Prepares required test solutions from detailed instructions.
  • Sets up and performs a variety of lab tests and operations. Records results, makes observations, analyzes data, and interprets test results.
  • Refines, adapts, and develops procedures or techniques to fit specific experiment requirements; modifies existing equipment or designs and fabricates requisite equipment.
  • Provides research administrative support including coordinating schedules, handling intake, maintaining records and files.
  • Cleans, sterilizes, operates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs equipment, machinery and instruments used for research.
  • Participates in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative results.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience may be required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Past experience in a laboratory setting.
