Job Description

RESEARCH SCIENTIST

About the Job:

We have immediate opening for a “Research Scientist” in our R&D operations. The applicant must hold a graduate degree, with relevant experience in the chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science area. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience.

Potential candidates must be U.S. Citizens living in the Los Angeles, CA area.

Responsibilities include:

· Design, develop, and characterize organic materials, polymers and nanomaterials, integrate, package, fabricate and test devices and systems using materials and science expertise as well as by using standard instruments available at InnoSense and other laboratories accessible to InnoSense projects.

· Conduct scientific research and submit funding proposals to federal agencies and non-federal entities using professional experience and available body of scientific knowledge.

· Participate in writing and reviewing proposals, reports, manuals, schematics and drawings.

· Maintain a laboratory notebook and enter all technical work as the work progresses or promptly after the subtask completion depending on the nature of the work.

· Contact potential commercialization partners and facilitate receipt of technology/funding support letters as well as follow-on funding commitment letters.

· Seek vendor/customer input, provide customer support, and maintain a professional relationship with InnoSense customers on a project-by-project basis. (Do not divulge InnoSense's operations related information (technical or finance) without first clearing with Kisholoy Goswami or his designated employee.

· Assist fellow employees toward developing their potential.

· Maintain a clutter-free, professional work environment and follow all applicable federal, state, and local work-related regulations including safety rules.

· Miscellaneous activities such as running an errand, and office administrative functions.

Requirements:

· Education and Skills: Doctoral degree in science or engineering such as chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science and engineering. Good skill in design, development (synthesis) and characterization of chemicals/materials/nanomaterials focusing organic compounds, organic-inorganic hybrid materials, nanomaterials, polymers, etc., investigating their structure/property relationships, and fabricating and testing devices such as sensors, electrochemical cells, etc., as stated under responsibilities. Some experience/skills in 3D printing and artificial intelligence (AI) are a plus.

· General Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication in American English, ability to work under deadline demands, active listening, creativity and dedication to the assigned tasks, strict compliance with workplace rules, complete cooperation with management, and teamwork.

· Technical Skills: Performing laboratory experiments, data analysis, compiling reports/presentations, developing innovative ideas, and writing proposals. Glove box use and maintenance, fabricating and testing devices such as chemical sensors, electrochemical cells, etc., and familiarity with commonly used analytical techniques for materials characterization (electron microscopy, infrared and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, FTIR, NMR, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, etc.).
