Job Description

TargetCancer Foundation is a patient-founded non-profit organization based in Cambridge, MA that is dedicated to rare cancer research and patient support. TargetCancer Foundation directly supports initiatives at the forefront of rare cancer treatment by funding innovative research, developing patient-centric clinical studies, and by supporting patients and raising awareness for rare cancers publicly.


TargetCancer Foundation (TCF) is seeking a Research Program Manager to join the study team forTCF-001 TRACK (Target Rare Cancer Knowledge). TCF will consider candidates for either a part-time (minimum of 30 hours per week) or full-time position, based on availability and qualifications.This position reports directly to the Executive Director of TCF.


TRACK is an IRB-approved clinical trial (NCT04504604) recruiting 400 patients to study precision medicine in rare cancers. TRACK is a fully remote, decentralized trial which provides enrolled patients with genomic testing of tissue and blood, as well as treatment recommendations from a Virtual Molecular Tumor Board. The Research Program Manager will manage day-to-day tasks related to the operations of the TRACK study. The Research Program Manager will also work with the TRACK team to ensure TRACK achieves its goals in an effective and efficient manner while achieving operational milestones, deliverables and compliance with regulations. This position also allows for regular opportunities to work with participating academic investigators and other collaborators.


TRACK is unique in that it is fully sponsored, managed and operationalized by TargetCancer Foundation, and the ideal candidate must bring flexibility and creativity along with experience to this unconventional structure. In addition, candidates must bring a commitment to detail and accuracy in all work.


Specific position requirements include:


  • Coordination and facilitation of weekly Virtual Molecular Tumor Board meetings.
  • Organizing, managing and executing various initiatives to improve and refine the TRACK study.
  • Co-management of team of contractors dedicated to TRACK operations.
  • Supporting work to connect with medical institutions to collect medical records of enrolled patients, and secure continuous updates to records throughout the period of the study.
  • Assisting in data aggregation efforts, requiring extraction of relevant data from medical records and genomic reports. Carrying out quality control measures for all extracted data.
  • Supporting coordination of the transfer of enrolled patient tissue from treating institutions to the molecular testing partner.
  • Working directly with patients and caregivers to foster their ongoing participation in the study.
  • Facilitation of regular study team meetings to provide updates and status of active enrolled patients.


Qualified candidates will bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical research operations, ideally including experience with activities similar to the tasks listed above. Experience working with patients and caregivers, as well as an understanding of the unique challenges faced by those diagnosed with rare cancers, is preferred.


Qualifications:


  • Ability to respond to shifting priorities, navigate ambiguity, and demonstrate a high level of initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management, strategic and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 5+ years of experience in clinical research and operations required, experience in patient advocacy preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience in oncology research preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact and communicate with staff, contractors and external partners including scientists and clinicians.
  • Demonstrated ability to advance project priorities while navigating a highly regulated environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.


This is a hybrid position, based at TCF’s Cambridge, MA offices, and allowing for remote work.
