The Department of Justice is seeking highly qualified Research Data Professionals to help with manadated statistical research and to modify data sets. The Analysts will develop, implement, maintain, and enhance protocols for the quality control of statistical databases for a number of subjects.
These subjects include an emphasis on on firearms (JC 389027), and criminal and social justice research topics (JC 389285).
Job Duties:
- Collaborate with management and research specialists to write professional memos, reports and research briefs and other documents in a timely fashion and tailored to the audience.
- Determine data sources and availability. Collect or extract data using a variety of established methods
- Conduct basic and advanced descriptive and inferential statistical analyses using R statistical software and/or Excel or other software. Identify patterns and trends in data
- Collaborate with management and research specialists to develop data collection methods,
Minimum Qualifications:
Five years of progressively responsible technical research experience engaged in the collection, compilation, analysis, and interpretation of data.
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree. Work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis by applicants who have the required units mentioned above.
A Master's Degree in economics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, demography, geography, anthropology, statistics, data science or a related research-oriented field may be substituted for two years of the required experience. A doctoral degree in the same areas may be substituted for three years of the required experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
In addition to the minimum requirements, the following qualifications are desirable and will be considered during the selection process:
- Experience analyzing data.
- Experience with independent research or being part of a research team.
- Experience with statistical packages, such as SPSS or SAS.
Salary (Monthly):
$6,658.00 - $8,334.00
