Job Description
Working under the direction of the Director of Assessment and Institutional Research, the Research and Data Analysts will support activities such as completing mandatory federal reporting, compiling data for voluntary ranking reports, collecting and analyzing data about Middlebury, including all of its programs, for internal reports, and survey research. The analyst will work with the Director to produce reports to internal and external audiences in a useful and accurate manner.


This is a full time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $60,953-$76,205 annually.


Core Responsibilities:


  • Experience collecting/extracting, organizing/merging, verifying, and cleaning data from a variety of sources for reporting and analytical projects. Validating the accuracy of compiled data, and conducting routine data analyses in order to meet firm deadlines.
  • Provide timely and relevant updates on projects to members of the Assessment and IR team
  • Working with of the team to create well-designed surveys that collect information on critical areas
  • Support initiatives as defined by the Provost Office.
  • Working with raw data to create a final dataset summaries to address the question under investigation. This work entails identifying and collecting appropriate data, data cleaning, mining, management, and appropriate statistical analyses of data.
  • Accurately perform external reporting functions for Middlebury, generate standard reports (e.g., CDS, IPEDS), coordinating timely responses to internal and external data requests. Updating regular reports in enrollment, degrees awarded and other related topics to review with Director.
  • Work with the Director / Assistant Director to construct effective data displays to communicate key points; and the creation of a summary documentaiton to share with stakeholders.

Requirements


Position Prerequisites:


  • Excellent quantitative reasoning skills / abilities.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Proven ability to work independently, be self-directed, and to work collaboratively, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem solving skills to determine best path forward.
  • Strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple and changing priorities; the ability to meet deadlines; diligent concern for data quality, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Skilled in cleaning, standardizing, filtering, and transforming data to create datasets ready to be analyzed and displayed graphically.
