Job Description
About The Opportunity


The successful candidate will be providing research support for a project investigating how the COVID-19 pandemic has had differential economic impacts at the intersections of race/ethnicity and gender. The RA would assist in downloading, merging, and cleaning data; running statistical analyses in the programming language R; formatting results in Word; converting datasets from R to Stata; locating academic literature to include in the literature review; formatting the paper for journal submission; and other duties as assigned.


Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a social sciences, data sciences, or other related field. Strong programming skills in R, coursework in statistics and econometrics, and the ability to format tables and bibliographies in Word.


Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree in social sciences, data sciences, or other related field. Familiarity with the monthly Current Population Survey.


Time frame: This is a temporary position, where the research assistant will work approximately 10 hours per week starting June 15 and ending before May 2024 at the latest, for a total of about 100 hours. The hours are flexible, except for an obligatory weekly team meeting. Team meetings will be held during regular working hours (M-F, 9-6 Pacific Time), but within that constraint, they will be scheduled by mutual agreement.


Pay rate: $20/hour to $22/hour, depending on qualifications and experience
