The Student Services, Prevention and Wellness Team within the Division for Learning Support is seeking applicants for a Research and Program Evaluation Education Consultant position. In this position, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with smart and dedicated team members to advance student education and mental health through the development of deep and strong connections with school staff, community providers, and state agencies. This position has the option to work 100% remote, including infrequent in-state travel, with a requirement that the employee is expected to have access to secure high speed internet. This position is headquartered at 125 S. Webster Street in Madison, WI, and employees are required to report there on their first day of employment. In addition, the employee may need to report to their headquarter location as operational needs require. Reimbursement for traveling to or from the employee’s headquarters is not provided (e.g., mileage, meals, parking, lodging, etc.). Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

Position Summary


This position designs program evaluations, builds data collection processes and tools, collects and analyzes data to inform decision-making, measures progress towards departmental priorities, and provides related professional development and technical assistance. Responsibilities include: a) planning, oversight, and coordination of statewide evaluation projects; b) development and implementation of program evaluation data collection, processes, and analysis procedures; c) collaboration with state and local program staff to apply the results of evaluations to educational program decisions; and d) provision of professional development and technical assistance to internal and external staff regarding program evaluation and use of data in decision making.

Salary Information


Depending on qualifications, the salary will be between $30.00 - $44.00 per hour ($62400 - $91520 per year) in accordance with the provisions of the current Compensation Plan. This position is in pay schedule 13, range 02. A one-year probationary period will be required.

This position offers excellent benefits. The State of Wisconsin is a qualifying employer for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Qualifications

A minimally qualified applicant must have experience with all the following:

  • Collecting and analyzing data; and
  • Planning and coordinating an evaluation project; and
  • Summarizing and presenting results verbally and in writing.

Well-qualified applicants will also have experience:

  • Managing or overseeing an evaluation project; and/or
  • Utilizing software for statistical analysis (e.g., R, STATA, Excel, Python, SAS, etc.); and/or
  • Evaluating program data for a continuous school improvement effort.
  • Collaborating with partners from a state or national organization; and/or
