What Now Media Group, the nation's leading independent media company dedicated to breaking yet-to-open restaurant, retail, and real estate news across 30 cities nationwide, is seeking a self-starter and motivated individual to join our team as the Reporter/Editor for our Atlanta edition.

As the Reporter/Editor, you will play a pivotal role in delivering breaking news about Atlanta's ever-changing restaurant, retail, and real estate scene for What Now Atlanta, our founding publication. Your primary initiative will be to research, write, and publish the site’s day-to-day coverage, dishing out scoop on yet-to-be-announced and yet-to-open brick-and-mortar businesses including the creation of our Partner Alerts (B2B content for our paid subscribers.)

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee all breaking news coverage across the restaurant, retail, and real estate verticals for What Now Atlanta with weekly and monthly coverage goals
• Optimize all posts for search engine optimization (SEO) to enhance visibility and engagement
• Assign and edit the work of freelance contributors, ensuring a diverse pool of voices that reflect the demographic of Atlanta
• Manage city-specific social media platforms to effectively promote site content and engage with the audience
• Ensure all copy on the site is meticulously copy edited, adheres to our style guide, and meets our editorial standards
• Track and analyze readership metrics to identify trends and opportunities for growth
• Build and maintain a wide network of sources within Atlanta's restaurant, retail, and commercial real estate brands, fostering strong relationships

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with SEO best practices and the ability to optimize content for search engines
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail and adherence to editorial standard
• Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with industry sources and diverse freelance contributors
• Proven experience as a reporter or editor, with a focus on breaking news and feature reporting in the restaurant, retail, or real estate sectors
• In-depth knowledge and passion for Atlanta's restaurant, retail, and real estate scene
• Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a team
• Proficient in utilizing social media platforms for content promotion and audience engagement
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
