Job Profile Summary: The rehab aide is a patient care extender and front desk support to check-in patients. Courage Kenny Sports and Physical Therapy - Rehab aide is to cover the front desk functions including check in, Covid screening and scheduling for the clinic that operates for 47 clinic hours. The rehab aide rooms patients, disinfects all touched surfaces, completes logs to maintain The Joint Commission requirements, begins/ends patient sessions per the oversight and direction of the physical therapists. This position ensures that our patients are greeted by an employee during all business hours and that the clinic runs smoothly.

Principle Responsibilities:

• Provides quality care under the supervision of a therapist. Supports departmental functions including equipment maintenance, cleaning, and assisting the front desk.
• Assist front desk.
• Provides safe patient equipment, ensures personal safety, and a safe work environment.
• Participates in program development, professional practice, and quality teams as requested.
• Uses communication techniques that reflect attention to age, cultural, and population-specific needs of the patient and family.
• Activities may include patient transport to and from the department, transfers, escorting a patient to a treatment room or gym when appropriate, supervising patients on equipment, and performing modality set-up based on training.
• Support department functions.
• Complete equipment cleaning, stocking, and ordering as appropriate.
• May ensure appropriate patient education information is supplied and ordered as needed.
• Promotes rehabilitation services.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Provide hands-on assistance as directed by the therapy provider in therapy sessions.
• May include answering phones, scheduling, copying, filing, calling patients, outcomes management, and medical records functions as training security allows.
• Thoroughly documents relevant cleaning, maintenance, O2 tank status, and crash cart checks.
• May assist with the orientation of new staff, students, and volunteers.
• Uses equipment and proper body mechanics to reduce injury to self and patients.
• Recognize emergency medical situations, symptoms, and take appropriate actions.

Job Requirements:

• BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource
• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description, and a High school diploma or GED preferred
• Experience in a health care clinic setting preferred

Physical Demands:

• Medium Work* - Lifting weight Up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), Up to 25 lbs. frequently

Additional :

The rehab aide may cover the end of day shift to 5:45 PM for 3 days of the week.

College Graduates intending a career in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology Preferred.
