Job Description

Under the direct supervision of a technician supervisor and pharmacist, performs medication related tasks such as packaging, preparation of all forms of medications, record keeping, and all non?judgmental aspects of drug distribution.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Processes orders using pharmacy computer system. Delivers patient medications to medication room areas and stocks automated medication stations (Pyxis machines).
  • Prepares and packages most forms of medications. Prepares sterile products using aseptic technique in compounding parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, and other IV drugs.
  • Maintains inventory including floor stock medication. Reorders, restocks, and monitors expiration dates of all medications.
  • Familiar with pharmacy technology and equipment. Capable of troubleshooting routine technical problems.
  • Performs duties in assigned practice area. Required to work in other practice areas, as staffing requires.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have successfully completed a Board-approved pharmacy technician-training program by obtaining a passing score on a Board-approved pharmacy technician assessment exam.

Experience/Skills:

Required:

  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions with accuracy, efficiency, and dependability.
  • Proficient in math. Knowledge and ability to use a computer for data entry.
Schedule details: Weekday shifts between 630am and 715pm. Rotating weekend shifts between 845am and 515pm.
