Responsibilities:
Work Schedule:
Sunday - Saturday, 12 and 8 hour shifts
Work some weekends
Work some holidays

Job Specific Details and Tasks:
The duties for the HCW include but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide patient/family teaching.
  • Support C-section deliveries as circulating nurse in the OR.
  • Perform monitoring of 210 inpatients per month, including continuous fetal monitoring, vital signs and assessment q15-60min and labor checks/cervical exams.
  • Perform vaginal delivery procedures (pushing, delivery, recovery, etc.).
  • Provide management of Pregnancy Induced Hypertension patients.
  • Perform procedures for transition of normal newborn (NRP as needed, bath, shots, assessment, breastfeeding assistance).
  • Assist the provider with operative vaginal delivery procedures.
  • Provide intravenous management (fluids, Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antibiotics and insulin).
  • Provide stabilization for transport of high-risk patients.
  • Provide pain management (monitor patient status on continuous laboring epidurals, intravenous narcotics, and emotional support).
  • Perform lab draws.
  • Perform pre-op for C-sections.
  • Perform monitoring of 500 to 950 triage patients per month, including continuous fetal monitoring, spontaneous rupture of membrane check, labor check, prolonged monitoring, rule out pre-term labor, decreased fetal movement, and Pregnancy Induced Hypertension.
  • Assist the provider with inductions.
  • Provide post anesthesia care for patients who have received epidural, spinal or general anesthesia.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Life Support Certification: Current AHA or ARC BLS/ACLS certifications. Must have a NRP certificate and complete a 2-hour lecture on IV certification.
  • Licensure:Current, unrestricted RN license from any state.
  • Education: Possess a Associates Degree in Nursing, from an accredited agency such as the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). As an alternative to the education requirements in the basic contract, the HCW may be a graduate of a state accredited professional nursing program OR a program accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
  • Experience: Must have at least 1 year experience in the past five years in a Labor and Delivery Unit.
  • Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
