We are looking for a Registered Nurse to render good nursing care and assistance to patients assigned to the unit; assists in supervising auxiliary personnel, responsible for helping maintain accurate patient records according to nursing home policy.
- State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Graduate of Registered School of Nursing
- Skilled Nursing Home LTC: 2 years (Preferred)
- Know your Fire, Safety, and Disaster Manual.
- Takes vital signs to detect deviations from normal and gage progress of the patient.
- Maintains patients’ medical record on nursing observation and action taken, such as medications and treatments given, reactions, tests, intake, and emission of liquids and solids, temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Observes, records and reports to supervisor or physician, patients’ condition, reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
- Explains procedures and treatments ordered to gain patients’ cooperation and allay apprehension.
- Evaluates on a regular basis, nursing assistants on unit.
- Assumes responsibility for her professional growth and development through participation in in-service programs and by attending staff meetings.
- Changes or assists the physician in changing dressings, cleaning wounds and incisions.
- Performs other duties as directed or required.
- Schedule attendants for patient care and continuous in-service education.
- It is the responsibility of all staff nurses to participate in the orientation of new personnel.
- Records nursing needs of patient on nursing care plan to assure continuity of care.
- Be conservative of supplies and equipment.
- Administers prescribed medications, orally and by injections.
- Observes emotional stability of patients, express interest in their progress and (prepares them for continuing care after discharge).
- Perform other duties as may be required to insure a high level of patient safety.
- Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well-being of the patient.
- When in charge of a unit assume the full responsibilities of the charge nurse, some of the specific duties involved are:
- Prepares equipment and assists the physician during treatments or examinations.
- Responsible for instruction to patients or their families when discharged home.
- Assumes responsibility for promoting good relationships among co-workers, other departments, patients their families and visitors.
- Assist the supervisor by participation in all activities of nursing service to insure good patient care.
- Must report to on-coming nurse at the change of each tour of duty form cardex. Also, must check narcotics with on-coming nurse, if applicable.
- Educational Assistance for full-time or part-time employees pursuing educational opportunities that will increase the employee’s qualifications and skills in the nursing field, such as an LPN or RN.
