The Cedars-Sinai IV Team consists of 16 expert and specialized nurses who are resources, safety advocates and educators for patients and hospital staff. The unit performs about 3,000 procedures per month and supervises IV complications house wide, making the team an integral part of patient safety and happiness! The IV Team is the “go-to” team when staff need support with IV access and therapy.

As a Registered Nurse on the IV Team, you are responsible and accountable for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care for specialty patient populations. As an IV Team member you will

• Contribute in the review of IV therapy policy & procedure.
• Work closely with the Chemotherapy Committee in revising and updating the chemotherapy policy
• Provide IV certification education to nursing staff (RNs) and participate in the use of skills lab.
• Participate in performance improvement programs and evidence based research for the best nursing practice.
• Coordinate chemotherapy in areas where the staff are not chemo certified.
• Assist nursing staff in starting IVs; assist in starting/restarting peripheral infusion; accessing portacath/passport; central line dressing change; epidural cath connection; assessment of infusion therapy; verge audit of Curos and ultrasound guided peripheral infusion.

Educational Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN or higher preferred.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
• For RN III: Specialty Certification required
• Current California State RN License required

Experience:

• Proven understanding of applicable Standards of Practice.
• Proven dedication to customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
• IV therapy and access nursing experience required.
• Minimum 3 years recent acute RN experience in specialty. Note: (minimum 1 year recent acute RN experience will be considered for Registered Nurse II)
