POSITION PURPOSE

This is a clinically focused position that develops and oversees special diets for the patient menus, monitors and evaluates nutrition interventions, ensures product compliance from a clinical nutrition perspective and reports results of quality outcomes in the development of a standardized inpatient formulary supporting the Food & Nutrition program for the Hospitality shared services model.

Works with the Trinity Hospitality Services (THS) Interdisciplinary team to ensure compliance and standardization of therapeutic diets and nutritional support as related to maintaining the Food & Nutrition technology formulary across supported sites and regions.

Provides clinical support to Regional Health Ministry and System Office THS staff regarding Food & Nutrition related applications and technology content to support all THS managed functions. Ensures compliance with processes and procedures to ensure data accuracy and integrity through various analytical approaches and requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the mission, vision and values of Trinity Health in behaviors, practices and decisions.

Provides in-service and nutrition education for THS content management team and supported sites as necessary to educate and enhance development of food formulary development.

Serves as a liaison between Hospitality Service Nutrition and content management team members as well as to local and regional FANS leaders to optimally support the clinical functions of the Food & Nutrition technology.

Actively participates in professional organizations and supports the THS education efforts in standardization initiatives across the Interdisciplinary support spectrum.

Assists the System Manager, Clinical Nutrition, in coordinating activities among Dietitians in the field, Dietetic Technicians and foodservice Managers related to Clinical standardization to support the Foodservice technology.

Makes appropriate adjustments and approves changes to diet order builds within the FANS application as defined by clinical standards and procedures and in accordance with regulatory and organizational bylaws and guidelines.

Responsible for processing content adds, deletions or updates to local formularies and/or databases, relevant to clinical compliance and appropriateness. Performs critical validation of information to confirm accuracy, adhere to established conventions and ensure the prevention of duplicate records, using multiple analytical approaches.

Maintains a collaborative working relationship with THS Culinary Systems & Program Development Manager, Regional Manager, local program coordinator and Food & Nutrition Manager in content management process to ensure all food items are clinically acceptable from a nutrition perspective.

Maintains a collaborative working relationship with Trinity Hospitality Services site level and Regional leadership in the mining and set up of key performance indicators for reporting standards.

Understands Menu relationships: divisions of, recipes, nutrition, allergies, and how database and corresponding data needs to be set up as it relates to operational and clinical requirements. Identifies records that require intervention to resolve potential duplicate records or inaccurate setup.

Performs data research and validation for items, utilizing manufacturer and nutrition information, contract data with a focus on ensuring compliance with THS clinical nutrition guidelines to ensure accurate descriptions, UOMs, product numbers, classifications/categories and general ledger accounts.

Utilizes skilled on-line search and research techniques, working with vendor customer service and sales staff,

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Food & Nutrition or a related field with one (1) to three (3) years of experience in developing, monitoring and evaluating nutrition interventions, as well as experience performing content management work in Food and Nutrition software; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Registered Dietitian (RD) by commission on Dietetic Registration is required.

Ability to complete continuing education requirements to maintain credentials.

Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Access and Excel.

Knowledge of and experience with item and vendor data cleansing and integrity.

Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and multiple inputs.

Ability to deliver outstanding customer service, by ensuring data integrity and performing research and validation to ensure the best operational impact of that data.

Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary to develop and maintain appropriate professional relationships with various levels of RHM staff, System Office staff and vendors. Routinely interfaces with RHM and System Office staff on data content matters.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position operates in a typical office environment. The area is well-lit, temperature-controlled and free from hazards. Incumbent communicates frequently, in person and over the telephone, with people in a number of different locations on technical issues. Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a keyboard. The environment in which the incumbent will work requires the ability to concentrate, meet deadlines, work on several projects at the same period and adapt to interruptions
