Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Medical Director, the Registered Dietitian (RD) provides educational and consultative services to optimize the health and nutritional status of students during individual visits. The RD also develops and implements programs to improve the diet and nutrition of students and the campus community with awareness and attention to cultural diversity. The scope of practice includes, but is not limited to, providing medical nutritional therapy for students with eating disorders, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and other chronic medical conditions.
The Registered Dietitian performs work involving some or all of the following duties: provide food, diet, and weight management, and nutritional care information by means of workshops, seminars, and/or individual counseling; consult with other student health center and university staff on food and nutrition concerns, eating disorders and the nutritional care for specific medical conditions, diseases or disorders; participate in multi-disciplinary teams to address nutritional needs; work to modify poor nutrition practices by educating and counseling students and other members of the campus community; prepare and assemble written and/or audio-visual material as aids in training and counseling sessions; keep current with developments in nutrition and diet applicable to the population served in the student health center and general campus community. Assist the Health Education and Wellbeing Services department with nutrition outreach.

The purpose of Campus Health & Wellbeing is to help students achieve and maintain academic success and lifelong health and wellbeing by providing timely and appropriate primary and acute health care, disease and injury prevention education, professional mental health care, outreach, educational services and campus consultations.
Key Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to assess needs and evaluate the effectiveness of diet and nutrition programs and materials.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service, while maintaining appropriate boundaries with clients.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations pertaining to the field.
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy, while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality consistent with applicable state and federal regulations, to effectively manage high level, sensitive and diverse interpersonal situations, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
- Thorough knowledge of principles, methods, materials, and channels of nutrition education.
- Working knowledge of medical nutritional therapy for management of chronic conditions.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a program approved and accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (clinical nutrition, health, wellness, food science or a related area).
- Completion of Registered Dietitian certification from an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics accredited pre-professional experience program.
- Incumbents must possess two years of progressively responsible nutrition experience and sufficient experience to perform the assigned duties.
Licenses, Certificates, Credentials:
- Possess and maintain certification as a Registered Dietitian as defined by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Current BLS for Health Care Provider certification.
Salary:
Anticipated Hiring Range: $58,333 - $70,833 Per Year
This position is paid under the 10/12 pay plan, where the salary for 10 months is distributed over 12 months. The salary will be received every month. The incumbent will have July and August off every year (with pay, benefits, and vacation/sick leave accrual continuing through months off).
Classification Range: $39,540 - $76,296 Per Year
