Salary Range: $31.42 - $43.34


Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.


Position Summary


  • Establishes and maintains effective, courteous and respectful working relationships with residents, families, medical staff and Comprehensive Care Center staff.
  • Must work well under stress or tight deadlines.
  • The individual assesses and documents patient nutritional needs, develops and implements nutritional care plans, counsels residents and families.
  • The Registered Dietitian is under the direct supervision of the Director of Nutrition Services and the CCC Administrator and works in conjunction with the Dietary Director.

Position Duties/Responsibility


  • Conducts nutritional assessments; develops and recommends evidence based nutrition interventions, including therapeutic diets; develops and implements care plans and provides nutrition counseling to the patient and/or the patient’s family members.
  • Serves as an ongoing liaison with medical, nursing and Dietary Services staffs while pursuing the continuous improvement of performance within the organization.
  • Reviews and revises nutrition education materials.
  • Participates in continuing education for professional growth.
  • Collaborates with medical staff, nursing staff and allied health professionals in the planning and implementation of resident care as necessary in meeting the nutritional needs of residents.
  • Collaborates with Diet Aides and the Dietary Director regarding resident’s food preferences
  • Reviews and revises, as needed, the Policy & Procedure and Diet Manual annually.
  • Re-evaluates residents at quarterly intervals, and more often if there is a change in the resident’s condition, and modifies nutritional care plans as needed.
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Evaluates resident weekly and monthly weights for significant weight changes and makes appropriate recommendations as needed.
  • Plans and conducts in-service training for all Dietary Services Department personnel as well as participates in Dietary Services staff meetings.
  • Provides education to medical, nursing and ancillary staff as needed.


Position Qualifications


  • Hospital dietary and cafeteria practices; long term are experience preferred.
  • Quality improvement principles.
  • Bachelors Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or related field of study.
  • Safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations.
  • Maintain the department's CIHQ accreditation.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relations with departmental employees, hospital staff, medical staff and patients.
  • One year experience as registered dietician preferred.
  • Skills/Ability:
  • Communicates policies to hospital and dietary employees.
  • Assures safe practices and techniques are used in the department.
  • Maintain records in an organized manner.
  • Registration as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission of Dietetic Registration for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Management principles.
