We have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Safety Manager in Cofield, NC OR Chesapeake, VA. The overall purpose of this position is to provide leadership and support to develop and administer an effective and proactive program to eliminate loss events in the workplace. This position will ensure compliance with applicable Perdue, local, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulations.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist in the development of goals, strategies, and tactics to accomplish safety plans. Communicate the status of safety performance against identified goals and standards to Regional Management teams
  • Assist engineering and facility personnel with contractor safety management including the contractor selection process, contractor training, and observation of compliance activities. Assist contractor with incident investigations and third party claims as needed
  • Assist in reviews of Capital Projects to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices
  • Advise, support, and promote an effective Health and Safety Management Process
  • Assist in developing the Health and Safety Strategic Plans and performance measurements. Create reports and documentation as necessary
  • Plan, develop, track, and conduct safety training sessions. Coordinate special emphasis actions (e.g.Safety Committee, Behavioral Based Safety Steering teams, etc.)
  • Maintain an awareness of regulatory issues and industry best practices and ensure compliance with internal policy/procedure and external regulatory requirements
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
  • Conduct facility inspections, incident investigations, and safety audits as required. Follow up to ensure completion of action items and gap closure


Minimum Education

  • Bachelors degree in Safety, Engineering, Business Management, or related field. In the absence of a degree, directly related work experience may be considered


Experience Requirements

  • Understanding of standard software applications
  • Understanding of Worker's Compensation laws and regulations
  • Understanding of manufacturing technologies
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills
  • Understanding of agricultural production operations
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Understanding of OSHA laws, regulations, and requirements
  • 10 - 12 years of experience
