Description:
Accountable for the day-to-day clinical management and coordination of the Service Lines in multiple locations. The Regional Clinical Nurse Manager will provide supervision and coaching to members of the health care team, including clinical supervisors, RNs, LPNs, MAs, and Sonographers, etc. to achieve integrated and coordinated patient care within the Service Line. Ensures a focus on high quality care and service, as well as consistent compliance with clinical guidelines and processes. Working within the Service Line may provide skilled nursing care as needed.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Assumes accountability and responsibility for the Service Line clinical and financial performance to include staffing and resource allocation.
Under the general supervision of the Service Line; is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Service Line, Quality and Patient Safety Clinical Protocols Including infection control, education, training, and audits.
Is responsible for, in cooperation with the Regional Service Line Leaders, the development/implementation of the Service Line strategic goals, programs and objectives.
Handles management and implementation of company-wide projects to meet yearly strategic and organizational goals/initiatives.
Establishes and implements policies, procedures, and performance standards.
Participates in staff, departmental and capital budget planning/preparation to meet assigned targets
Prepares reports, participates in committees, attends meetings, and communicates with Service Line staff on an on-going basis.
Facilitates and ensures the delivery of high-quality care and service with consistent compliance of clinical guidelines and practices.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies within their Service Line and those applicable to the organization. Establishes and implements policies, procedures, and performance standards for respective supervisory area.
Is consistent and fair in their interpretation of policies and regulations. Holds staff accountable for complying with and following procedure.
Creates and encourages a positive, team-oriented work environment within their Service Line, at their site, and regionally.
Selects, develops, and evaluates staff. Provides regular performance feedback to employees by utilizing both formal evaluation tools and informal coaching sessions. Addresses inadequate performance and disciplinary issues in a timely manner and holds staff accountable through performance improvement plans, consults with Human Resources department when appropriate.
Provides education to all new nurses for the Regional Service consistent with the national, regulatory, and professional guidelines. Training including and not limited to: Quality and safety guidelines policy and procedure (such as sterile field, CPR, PPE, and Service Line Specific orientation. Recruits all clinical staff onboarding in collaboration with Service Line Leaders and Regional Leadership. Ensures clinical staff remains in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. Oversight of Medical Assistant, Sonographers, and clinical roles across the Service Lines.
Oversees the provision of direct patient care by clinical staff; serves as consultant and role model for staff.
Assesses the physical and psychological needs of patients using the nursing process, when providing direct patient care. Provides prevention, early intervention, health education and direct patient care as needed. Documents all interventions appropriately.
Responds to emergency situations and takes lead role in providing higher level nursing care.
Maintains adequate staffing levels to support patient care needs. Coordinate’s activities of the clinical support staff with those of the provider staff.
Mentors and coaches’ staff with particular attention to leveraging clinical competency through the shared management of patients.
Works with other members of the health care team to optimize performance and maximize patient satisfaction.
Plans and coordinates continuing education for the staff.
Reviews and responds to patient problems and complaints in collaboration with physician leaders and other management staff. Works with the physician leadership, management staff, and other members of the team to resolve conflicts.
Instructs and directs the activities of students participating in practicum or internships.
Understands and adheres to all HIPAA privacy and security regulations, policies, and practices. Ensures direct reports are educated about HIPAA Privacy and Security policies and procedures. Report’s violations and incidents, they observe and cooperates in investigations as requested by management.
Regular and reliable attendance in accordance with department needs and company policies.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current RN licensure in the State of Connecticut in good standing required.
BSN or related bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience required. Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience and demonstrated skill in developing and coaching staff preferred.
Working knowledge of windows-based computer environment. Knowledge of Epic patient management system a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. required.
Actions needed to provide direct patient care, which include but are not limited to lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying. Staff is expected to use proper body mechanics and request assistance as needed.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the Regional Service Line Executive Director.
Responsible for the direct supervision of clinical staff in assigned areas (i.e., RN, Clinical Supervisors, LPNs, MAs, Sonographers, etc.).
