What To Expect
**LOCATION - Flexible as long as East Coast based and close to an Energy Warehouse**
The Regional PWPV Lead Engineer will be responsible for managing a team of PWPV Technicians providing East National field support and driving process change and continuous improvement targeting efficiency detractors through data driven projects. This position will focus on identifying field issues for Powerwall and PV retrofit teams impacting efficiency through data collection, driving process / product change through corrective root cause analysis tools, and implementing the corrective changes through the various cross-functional organizations. Daily work will be highly cooperative in nature with regular interactions with product/design Engineers, operations leaders, new product introduction, and various upstream organizations impacting job flow and installer efficiencies - strong interpersonal skills are critical.
The Regional PWPV lead Engineer should be detail focused with an understanding of the big picture. They must be curious, self-motivated, receptive to feedback, and appreciate an environment where superior work is encouraged, noticed, and rewarded.
What You’ll Do
  • Manage and coach a team of Field Support PWPV Technicians, providing Powerwall and PV Retrofit support across the East National offices, driving process audit data collection, ensure every office gets support, and continued learning and improvement.
  • Manage projects, working with various cross-functional organizations, to root cause efficiency detractors through data driven practices and proposing and implementing positive impacting solutions in process / product change.
  • Providing installation solutions to field teams as the higher installation / product knowledge resource.
  • Plan and run various trials / pilots for various teams, identifying the important datapoints to collect, building out data collection tools, and presenting findings to leadership teams with proposals for change action.
  • Manage another Engineer and their projects, ensuring strong analytical practices are followed and the projects are completed within its timeline.
  • Implementing and validating success of change actions in the field.
  • Keep up to date with product and process changes, AHJ impacts, and installation trends.
  • Learn and understand backend systems / processes.
What You’ll Bring
  • Ideally a valid Journeyman Electrician License: advanced knowledge of residential and solar electrical systems
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment. This includes excellent communication skills: written and verbal.
  • Exceptional capacity for managing simultaneous activities, competing priorities, and challenges
  • Ability to develop data driven root cause analyses and solutions
  • Creative capacity for developing new ways to do things better, cheaper, faster in alignment with the Tesla approach to revolutionary product development
  • 3+ years of installation and troubleshooting Powerwall / PV systems experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly
  • Strong management and coaching skills
  • Competent computer skills required
