Job Description

In support of Gift of Life Michigans (GOLMs) mission, vision and core values, the employee is professional, determined and compassionate. The primary responsibility of this position is to complete timely review of viable organ referrals. This includes, but not limited to, receiving updates on patient condition and plan of care, reviewing hospital EMR for clinical status updates and communicating with appropriate personnel.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Completes timely response to viable organ referrals, understanding that presence is vital to GOLMs mission.
  • Assist in education of new clinical and Hospital Development employees both in the office and in the field.
  • Promotes organ and tissue donation, as well as a positive image of GOLM.
  • Attend Authorization training and complete the necessary requirements to be deemed a Designated Requestor.
  • Maintain proper documentation during the donation process and provide necessary information to maintain organizational records.

  • Able to work alternate hours immediately responding to referrals and other situations requiring their presence and expertise.
  • A bachelors degree in health administration, nursing or a related field.
  • Preferred experience working a minimum of 3 years in an Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) hospital setting or healthcare related field.
  • Must possess patience and comfort for death and dying process, observed comprehension of the donation process and documentation requirements, demonstrated quality improvement success
