Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Recreational Therapist provides therapeutic services focusing on healthy leisure/recreational/sport activities, including assessment, intervention, program planning and implementation. Assists with discharge planning and provides related documentation in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Clinical and education position, including, but not limited to:

  • This position works directly with patients of Talbot Hall residential substance use disorder treatment program: coordinating and providing recreational services.
  • Involved in individualized treatment plans to assist patients to determine and meet treatment goals.
  • Provides therapy to individuals and groups with substance use and mental health disorders to facilitate return to previous or improved functioning.
  • Plan and implement programming to support recovery from addiction and improvement in lifestyle changes.

Additional requirements include training or background in additional modalities such as yoga or other activity-based interventions.

This position is Sunday-Thursday, first shift.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

For Hire:

  • Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited program, or equivalent experience.

Ongoing:

  • Demonstrates competence to meet essential job functions.
  • Maintains knowledge related to patient care issues, performance improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures, and protocols, completes annual education and health requirements, including holds & restraints.
  • Maintains current CTRS certification.
Regular 40 Weekend Shift
