WORK SCHEDULE: Monday Thursday & Tuesday Friday; rotating ten (10) hour shifts.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Services Supervisor or ASD Lead, an employee in this class will process and maintain all records generated by Police personnel for public and official Police use; performs related work as required.
Record Clerk duties 70%
  • Enters, updates and removes information of stolen property, missing persons, into the NCIC system. Contacts victims of stolen property that have been entered into NCIC;
  • Entering data and reviewing for police records into the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS);
  • Greets and assists citizens at the division help counter by pulling and copying releasable reports, calling for Police Officer assistance, taking walk-in reports.
  • Runs criminal histories, drivers histories, and vehicle registration for police officers, detectives, administration, and court appointed persons;
  • Processes, copies, and prepares documents to be sent to the City Attorney, prosecuting attorney, court, officers and other agencies and departments;
Other duties 30%
  • Assists dispatch with call taking and CAD entries;
  • Responding to public information requests and other related duties;
  • Performs general office typing as needed to complete forms, memos, letters, schedules, applications and billing forms.
  • Assists individuals with required fingerprinting and completing appropriate documents;
The final applicant for the position will participate in a background investigation which includes a criminal history check, polygraph, and pre-employment drug screen.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency, certification with course work in general office skills, typing speed of 40 wpm. Previous general office experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which proves the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work. Must obtain Idaho Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (ILETS) certification upon hire.
