Provides support services to radiologists, referring physicians, staff clinicians, technologists, patients and families. Responsible for providing services that include retrieval of films, management of electronic images, locating patient information, recording image releases, and uploading and burning CDs. Ability to read and write legibly, assemble various forms and films, understand detailed instructions, communicate with physicians and perform other clerical functions as directed and as acquired through a high school or equivalent education. Interpersonal and communication skills required to appropriately greet and interact in person and telephonically with patients, parents, staff, physicians and other outside customers. Medical terminology and good knowledge of basic anatomy required to interact with medical personnel. Intermediate computer skills required to utilize sophisticated information technology systems. Analytical ability to perform comparisons between numbers and letters in order to accurately complete data entry into the EHR, PACS, and the electronic cloud based system. Prioritize workload to promote continuity of care while demonstrating the ability to work independently in a multi-tasking environment. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds to process patient film jackets from storage shelving (above head level to below knee level range). Demonstrates attention to detail. Respect for the confidential nature of patient information. Must possess the maturity, communication skills and etiquette to triage service requests in an efficient and effective manner. Assistants must be proficient at film digitization and CD burning functions associated with the PACS.
