Job Description

Job purpose

The Quality Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining an effective quality department to achieve optimal levels of quality, productivity, and safety. Achieves, company priorities and supports Productions continued success.

Duties and responsibilities

·Management and supervisory over quality department employees and duties

  • Guides, implements and drives product excellence through setting continual improvement goal within the quality department
  • Trains, delegates, and evaluates duties of quality department positions
  • Other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Executive Committee
  • Works in conjunction with engineering and production to review new product development to assure customer requirements have been met
  • Develops, maintains, and revises Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and metrics complimentary to company policies and goals
  • Signs off and forwards purchase orders and performs supervisory duties such as approving time off requests, and employee evaluations for quality department employees
  • Assigns study leads for customer tool validations and audits.
  • Manages, tracks, and analyzes customer quality issues/complaints
  • Drives overall integration and implementation of a progressive quality system to prevent defects and to satisfy customer needs and Legacy’s Quality Policy
  • Reviews data obtained through quality activities to ensure consistency with policies and procedures
  • Documents quality management training programs for employees
  • Manages, and reports results of internal/external audits of the QMS and defines expectations by continued communication with customer
  • Trains Quality Engineer on statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate current processes and suggest process changes to meet or exceed customer needs and optimize yield and profitability.
  • Manages quality deliverables, validations, and capability studies

Physical requirements

·Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods (up to 8 hrs.) of time

·Must be able to manually lift and carry items up to 55 pounds, able to twist, pull, push, and bend

·Excellent vision abilities required including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, strong reading and comprehension, strong manual dexterity

Qualifications

·Working knowledge of quality management system standards (ISO 9000)

·Working knowledge of production industry

·Strong computer skills in enterprise resource planning (ERP) and proficient in Microsoft applications

·Excellent interpersonal skills, team player, attention to details, and problem solving, computer skills, ability to work independently

·Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Business preferred but not required, or equivalent in work experience with 5 years of experience preferred in quality systems

·knowledge and interpretation of statistics.

·Quality certification desired, but not required

·Working knowledge of quality management system standards (ISO 9000)

·Working knowledge of production industry

·Strong computer skills in enterprise resource planning (ERP) and proficient in Microsoft applications
