Job Description

Overview

Responsible for continuous improvement of product quality. Utilize KVH Quality Management System processes to ensure the delivery of products that exceed our customers expectations. Reports to the Manager of Corporate Quality.


Responsibilities

  • Support and resolve production issues that prevent a high quality product results, such as part design, supplier capability, process and tool issues.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications with quality standards.
  • Audit business processes to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System
  • Must be able to move about the manufacturing floor.
  • Support and train production assemblers on documented manufacturing procedures to ensure operator understanding and process quality results.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing process documents to implement ECO or process improvements.
  • Review preliminary ECOs to ensure the change is acceptable and can be implemented and reliable.
  • Facilitate the continuous improvement process by collecting data, performing analysis and creating reports that focus the company on what needs improvement.
  • Some travel require; up to 30 days per year domestically to suppliers/partners.
  • Develop and Improve Quality, Production and Service Processes
  • Support the sustaining engineering process.
  • Physical requirements: On occasion must stoop, bend, reach, lift 30 lbs and prolonged standing.
  • Advise on disposition of nonconforming products
  • Contribute to new product development teams to provide input to the product design to ensure efficient production and serviceability design attributes.
  • Must speak English - Helpful to have the capability to successfully work through foreign language and cultural issues when they occur
  • Drive corrective and preventative action, and continual improvement by interfacing with manufacturing, engineering, service, and suppliers to solve issues


Qualifications

Required:

  • HALT/HASS
  • 4 - 5 years of experience working as a Quality Engineer
  • Mechanical/Electronic Assembly Standards
  • Bachelor’s degree(s) in a related science(s)
  • Technical problem solving and business issue management skills
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • FMEA
  • Quality Inspection methods, procedures
  • Good interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Good to Excellent Understanding of:
  • Enhanced design validation techniques
  • Experience in manufacturing of electromechanical devices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ISO 9001:2015 lead auditor certification desirable
  • PQE Certification is desirable
  • Experience in manufacturing of electromechanical devices


Desirable Special Training or Experience: FMEA, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, HALT/HASS, Problem Solving
