Description and Requirements

QA Accessibility Tester

Location:
Austin, TX
Status: Full time.
Position Overview:
The QA Accessibility Tester performs manual audits of customer-facing web-based products. Web accessibility work requires an analytical mind and an ability to take on the perspective of other people, including users of all ages and abilities, designers, and web developers. This position partners with our accessibility team to ensure customers’ needs are understood and that the team is provided with thorough, accurate and useful documentation based on audit findings.

The QA Tester will review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback, creating detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases, estimating, prioritizing, planning and coordinating testing activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees tests to ensure that performance and quality products conform to established policy and standards.
  • Develop automated test scripts to validate functional, technical, and performance requirements.
  • Develop and implement program test plans, quality assurance plans, programs, and procedures using the testing tools.
  • Document results and develop test reports.
  • Maintain technical and screen reader competency to complete manual accessibility tests.
  • Carry out accessibility audits of web-based products.
  • Review, analyze and report on quality discrepancies related to software and systems engineering.
  • Interface with all program staff to ensure requirements are met. Participates in meetings as required.
  • Understand and stay current with accessibility compliance guidelines. For example, WCAG and Section 508.
  • Investigate problems and recommend/develop corrective actions, dispositions and modifications for recurring discrepancies.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in a project management role interfacing with different stakeholders at various levels.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated record of acquiring knowledge beyond what is needed to complete assigned tasks.
  • Excellent time management, organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to understand and work with HTML, CSS and other web technologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills working in a professional environment.
  • Proficiency in web accessibility guidelines such as WCAG and Section 508.
  • 2+ years of working experience in testing accessibility tools; including Live Caption, TalkBack, etc.
  • Solid operating knowledge of SQL and scripting.
In order to be considered for a transfer to another role, campaign or position, Team Member must:
  • Be meeting or exceeding performance requirements consistently over the last 3 months.
  • Have no active Hint 2 or 3 corrective actions.
  • Have been in their current role for a minimum of 12 months.
