Why Position is Open:

Verisign operates a constellation of more than 100 globally distributed internet resolution sites, which includes both regional resolution sites and supersites. Verisign’s domain name servers at these resolution sites provide the associated authoritative name servers and IP addresses for every .com and .net domain name on the internet and a large number of other top-level domain (TLD) queries.

They have been working on augmenting the way they use deployments for years and need to fast track some live testing of their systems. Looking for reusable/well factored code.

Additional Notes:

Python experience is key, this will be the primary skill set for doing automation related activities: deployment automation and testing of systems that are being deployed/ validating systems, ensure all is running smoothly.

Use systems like Jenkins/Salt/Puppet – any experience is a bonus.

Familiarity with Groovy is a strong bonus.

Experience working with or creating APIs and understanding of data transport and serialization formats such as SOAP, XMLRPC, REST, JSON, XML, YAML

Responsibilities:

• Help improve the Verisign monitoring infrastructure by expanding on current data visualization initiatives and leverage protocols such as NetFlow and technologies such as Streaming Telemetry
• Take a “monitor/measure all the things” approach to help provide more insight into critical infrastructure and applications
• Design, build and maintain tools to better support deployment, testing and operational functions for network infrastructure
• Actively help identify gaps that are pain points for up/down stream organizations and take a leadership role in executing a solution
• Help design and implement auto remediation functions to monitor, manage and recover from undesirable network events
• Research and integrate industry best practices in network orchestration initiatives, create operational standards around monitoring and network configuration management

Requirements:

Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience

5+ years' related software engineering experience

Proficient in Python, and Shell scripting

Preferred experience:

Experience working with or creating APIs and understanding of data transport and serialization formats such as SOAP, XMLRPC, REST, JSON, XML, YAML

Experience with network devices (routers, switches, load balancers) and a good understanding of network routing protocols

Debug issues within custom code efficiently

Quickly adapt to and learn new technologies, both development framework and technology advancements

Have a high aptitude and technology-agnostic approach to engineering

Solid understanding of the Linux operating systems and Docker containers. Terraforming experience is a plus

• Experience with automation platforms (Ansible, Salt, etc)
