Job Description
Position Summary


Working closely with all departments in a manufacturing environment.


Purchase materials and parts relative to available capacity and production needs.


PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS


  • Accurately and timely accomplish core responsibilities.
  • Understand and apply appropriate policies, procedures and internal controls relevant to the position.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers.
  • Anticipate problems and take steps to correct issues which may reduce manufacturing’s ability to ship completed machines on time.
  • Maintain proficiency in relevant knowledge skills and in the use of equipment applicable to the position.
  • Participate in meetings, projects and activities in support of company and team goals.
  • Travel as needed to suppliers, conferences and trade shows.
  • Attendance during scheduled work times.


Core Responsibilities


  • Arranges inventory shipments to best utilize lean manufacturing methodologies, i.e. – just-in-time, order quantities, packaged order quantities, consigned inventory, etc.
  • Negotiates prices for raw material, purchased components and freight.
  • Other assigned duties within the scope of the position.
  • Assesses financial risks of purchases.
  • Review the material requirements planning (MRP) daily and place purchase orders based on the MRP.
  • Expedite parts and materials from suppliers for timely delivery.
  • Prepare purchase orders or bid requests.
  • Run daily reports related to assigned suppliers and products.
  • Work with the Quality Department to resolve and fix bad parts or products.
  • Monitor purchase price variance and purchase order quantities for accuracy. Resolve issues.
  • Enter costs and cost updates from suppliers into system.
  • Investigate and solve purchase receipts errors, invoice discrepancies, quality and corrective action reports.


Qualifications


  • Ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing of agricultural equipment is helpful.
  • BA in related field with three years relevant experience preferred.
  • Ability to compile information and make decisions.
  • Proficiency with equipment found in an office environment.
  • Good math skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software products with advanced skills in Excel.

WORKING CONDITIONS


  • Safety equipment worn as needed is protective clothing, hearing protection, safety glasses and steel toed shoes may be required.
  • Occasional walking through non air conditioned manufacturing plant areas, including climbing and descending stairs.
  • Motions include, but are not limited to, walking, pushing, pulling, gripping, lifting and carrying of objects up to 40 lbs, negotiating stairways, typing and writing.
  • Typical air conditioned office environment involving periods of sitting, standing, bending, opening and closing file cabinets and drawers, opening and closing of doors, light lifting, filing, paper handling, use of phones, computers and other office equipment.
