This is a full-time, permanent Epidemiologist 3 position located in the Office of the Assistant Secretary within Prevention and Community Health.

You Will
Under the direction of the OAS Informatics and Advanced Analytics Unit Supervisor, the Public Health Informatician provides advanced level informatics support and leadership for innovation and data modernization by creating, maintaining, or assuring collaborative solutions for systems & tools needed for a responsive public health data infrastructure. The position sits in the OAS Informatics Unit that coordinates and conducts activities related to public health informatics and advanced epidemiologic analytics & data visualization across the division.
  • Support activities required for data normalization, restructuring, and modeling.
  • Work closely with the Divisional Senior Epidemiologist to create & sustain Divisional support for public health informatics.
  • Perform highly complex, varied tasks – including system analysis & development, planning, policy development, project management and evaluation, as well as training functions.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Participate as an expert in the design, development, implementation, evaluation, management, and continuous improvement of public health information systems in partnership with appropriate subject matter experts (analytic, program, IT, etc.) and technology vendors.
  • Provide for public health data quality and workflow improvement.
  • Share processes and findings with technical, professional and general audiences through presentation, writing and internet-based data-sharing platforms.
  • Provide expert public health informatics knowledge and leadership across PCH, including division-level, offices, and programs; and liaise with internal and external partners.
The incumbent may be located anywhere within the State of Washington or border cities for this remote position.

Required Qualifications
Note: Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.
Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Sciences, Computer Science, Public Health, Science, Epidemiology, Public or Health Policy, Health Services Research, or closely related field AND six (6) years of professional experience in a healthcare or public health setting with health informatics responsibilities that include conducting and/or supporting informatics projects including scientific investigations information architecture management, and implementing data and information standards.
OR
Option 2: Master’s degree or higher from an accredited graduate school with a focus in public health, public health informatics, health care informatics, information technology, computer science, information science, public policy or health policy, statistics or related field AND four (4) years of professional experience in a healthcare or public health setting with health informatics responsibilities that include conducting and/or supporting informatics projects including scientific investigations, information architecture management, and implementing data and information standards.
OR
Option 3: Doctoral-level degree such as PhD of Informatics, Doctor of Public Health (Dr.PH.), Doctor of Health Science (D.H.Sc.), Ph.D. Management Information Systems and Technology, Ph.D Computer Science or closely related field AND two (2) years of experience doing senior-level public health informatics work;
OR
An equivalent combination of education, professional experience, and lived experience.
