Hiring 3 PT Liquor Store Sales Associates

Wage $12-$17/hr.

Must be available to work weekdays, late afternoon, evenings and weekends.


Job Title: Liquor Store Sales Associate/Clerk Part Time
Department: Liquor Store
Reports To: Supervisor
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Grade: B
Part-Time Non-Benefit
Hours: 10-20 hours per week


General Statement of Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Liquor Store Manager/and or designee, performs all sales clerk functions, such as cash register transactions, stocking of coolers and shelves, balancing sales receipts, and general store custodial duties.


Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides courteous, efficient, and knowledgeable service to the customers including, but not limited to: locating items on shelves, recommending and selling merchandise to customers, bagging and carrying merchandise to cars.
  • Performs general maintenance tasks at the liquor store, to include, but not limited to: cleaning restrooms, dusting shelves, vacuuming designated areas, mopping and sweeping floors, removing snow from walkways, cleaning store and cooler windows, disposing of all trash, and clearing and maintaining a safe customer traffic area inside and out.
  • Performs duties in a manner consistent with safe practices and policies.
  • Records daily transaction amounts from cash register, counts cash, balances cash receipts, and reconciles cash drawer at end of work shift.
  • Rings up retail sales, subtotals taxable items, totals purchases collects cash, check, or charge payments from customer, and makes change for cash transactions.
  • Performs other such duties as assigned.
  • Cleans and stocks cooler, arranges, and rotates liquor merchandise on shelves, sets up displays in sales area to ensure a well-stocked and customer friendly store.
  • This job requires the use of equipment including, but not limited to: two wheel cart, computerized cash register, calculator, credit card/debit card machine, lotto and carding machines, and any other equipment used for general store maintenance.
  • Responsible to check customer’s identification for proof-of-age and denies service to underage or intoxicated customers.

Education and/or Experience

  • Availability to work all shifts to include days, evenings, holidays, and weekends. Requires availability during HOBO Week. Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to operate a computerized point of sale.
  • Customer service and cashiering experience preferred.
  • Two years related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to proactively greet customers; be friendly, professional, polite and helpful in dealing with customers and employees. Represent the City in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to enforce all store policies and applicable laws.
  • Requires sound judgment in the handling of product and money.


Certificates, Licenses, and Examinations

  • Successful competition in written tests and/or oral interviews.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must regularly lift, carry and/or move up to 35 pounds (up to 200-600 times per week), frequently lift, carry and/or move moderately heavy merchandise up to 55 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. The employee must have physical strength to frequently add/remove merchandise up to 55 pounds to/from shelving ranging in height from floor level to 50” high and 35 pounds from floor to 76” high. Unloading freight, stocking and restocking duties, involves frequent bending and twisting.
  • General physical ability to communicate effectively with the general public.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time.
