Friday Only (8am to 8 pm)

What you bring to SBHG (qualifications):
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Nursing Education Certificate to practice as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Completion of an approved Adult, Child, or Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Possession of a State of California issued medication furnishing number and a certificate issued by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration for the furnishing for psychotropic medications Valid California Driver's License required.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing with a specialty in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience with adults and children greater than age 12 who present and are assessed with a DSM-IV diagnosis.
  • Experience with mentally ill clients is preferred.
How you will make a difference (job overview):
In collaboration with a designated physician, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) is responsible for providing inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care, including admitting, assessing, furnishing and providing medication management, and managing clients, following established standards and practices. The PNP will review and analyze client records in order to furnish and evaluate the usage of psychotropic and other drugs and the quality and appropriateness of the care of mental health clients.
Division/Program Overview:
  • 24/7 outpatient program
  • An BHUCC unit equipped to serve six teens (ages 13 to 17)
  • Clients may stay up to 24 hours
  • An adult unit equipped to serve 12 adults (ages 18 and up)
  • Walk-in’s welcome
  • Rapid mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and medication support
